The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Friday said it has approved a total of P740.834 million additional replenishment for the quick response funds of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of National Defense-Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

In a statement, the DBM said that out of the approved amount, P640.834 million has been released to the DSWD and P100 million to the OCD.

The Budget Department said the DSWD requested a P640.834 million QRF replenishment that is intended for the procurement of family food packs and non-food items for the stockpiling of relief resources in DSWD warehouses.

The replenishment will also support the outright cash aid through the emergency cash transfer to 73,348 families affected by earthquakes in Cebu and Davao Oriental, as well as for residents affected by the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Mirasol, Nando, and Opong in the Bicol region.

The amount will also be used for the procurement of transport and delivery services and stand-by funds of DSWD Regional Offices, among others, the DBM said.

On top of the P640.834 million, a total of P1.341 billion was previously released this year to the DSWD on October 2 (P625 million) and October 8 (P716.15 million) to cover the additional replenishment of its 2025 QRF.

Meanwhile, for the OCD, the P100 million replenishment of their QRF is intended to cover the agency's Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses to support its disaster management operations until the end of the year, the Budget Department said. –NB, GMA Integrated News
