“This initiative underscores our dedication to supporting Filipino innovators who are developing impactful solutions to the country’s most pressing challenges,” Arsenio Balisacan, secretary of the DepDev which in turn serves as the NIC secretariat, said during the opening ceremony on Monday.

“We envision the Presidential Filipinnovation Awards to be the highest and most prestigious recognition for innovation in the Philippines, bringing together the public and private sectors, academe, and communities to celebrate Filipino ingenuity,” he added.

According to Balisacan, the year’s competition focuses on learning and education, food and agribusiness, and health and well-being.

“The Presidential Filipinnovation Awards is one of the government’s flagship programs for building a dynamic innovation ecosystem that fosters collaboration, creativity, and the growth of homegrown technologies,” he said.

“It embodies our shared vision of harnessing Filipino innovation as a catalyst for productivity, competitiveness, and sustainable development,” he added. — BM, GMA Integrated News
