Cash remittances rebound to $3.121B in September 2025

Remittances sent in by overseas Filipinos rebounded in September following the decline posted in August, data released by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on Monday showed.

Cash remittances or money transfers coursed through banks or formal channels stood at $3.121 billion, reflecting a 3.7% increase from the $3.009 billion recorded the same month last year, and higher than the $2.977 billion in August.

This brought year-to-date cash remittances to $26.030 billion, up 3.2% from $25.226 billion in the comparable period of 2024.

The United States remained the biggest source of remittances for the nine-month period with 40.4%, followed by Singapore with 7.1%, Saudi Arabia with 6.4%, and Japan with 4.9%.

The United Kingdom accounted for 4.8%, the United Arab Emirates for 4.5%, Canada for 3.5%, Qatar for 2.9%, Taiwan for 2.8%, South Korea for 2.5%, and the remaining 20.3% was shared by other countries.

The BSP noted, however, that remittances coursed through money couriers cannot be disaggregated by actual country source and these are lodged under the country where the main offices are located, which is in the United States in many cases.

Personal remittances — the sum of transfers sent in cash or in-kind via informal channels — came in at $3.461 billion, up by 3.8% from $3.336 billion. The year-to-date performance was up 3.2% to $28.974 billion.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
