BSP to launch 10-piso ASEAN coin with QR code in January 2026
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on Tuesday announced it will launch the 10-piso commemorative coin in January 2026 to mark the Philippines’ chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) next year.
“The obverse side will retain the design of the currently circulating 10-piso from the New Generation Currency coin series, which features Apolinario Mabini,” the BSP said.

The reverse side of the coin features the ASEAN 2026 and a QR which leads to the BSP website, which then links to the website of the country’s hosting of ASEAN next year.

The inclusion of a QR code, the BSP said, bridges tradition and technology while giving the public “easy digital access to ASEAN 2026 updates.”
“The coin symbolizes ASEAN’s cooperation, economic integration, and the Philippines’ active role in shaping the region’s future,” the central bank said.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
