PTB eyes P522M 'tourism sales' in South Korea
The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) projects P522.29 million in tourism-generated sales following the conclusion of the Philippine Business Mission (PBM) at multiple major cities in South Korea.
In a statement, TPB said that the program had seen a total of 792 business meetings between 204 Korean travel agents and corporate buyers and 40 seller companies.
The meetings were held with prominent Philippine hotels, resorts, tour operators, management companies, airlines, and government agencies in an effort to boost Philippine tourism.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Department of Tourism in Korea also presented tourism product updates and route developments with Philippine-flag carriers for more travel options.
“Our vision extends far beyond this business mission. We remain committed to a broader, long-term effort to strengthen our tourism partnership with South Korea and encourage deeper connections through travel and shared experiences,” said TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles.
“[The PBM] reaffirms our commitment to expand market reach and deliver concrete actions by elevating the experience of Korean visitors,” added TPB North Asia Acting Division Head Anjella Calzado.
Earlier, the TPB also announced that they are looking into promoting the country as a wellness and leisure hotspot for Koreans as they tap actors Kim Myung Soo and Choi Bo Min to lead the promotional efforts in South Korea.
TPB shared that South Korea remains to be the country’s top inbound tourism market with over 1.76 million arrivals in 2024. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
