NCR wage board OKs P800 hike in kasambahays’ minimum wage
Domestic workers (kasambahays) in Metro Manila may expect higher wages next month after the regional wage board approved a P800 increase in their monthly minimum wage.
Under Wage Order No. NCR-DW-06, the National Wages and Productivity Commission said the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) set a minimum wage rate for all domestic helpers in the capital region, hiking their monthly minimum salaries from P7,000 to P7,800.
The new wage rate is set to take effect on February 7, 2026.
"In the case of hiring or contracting of domestic workers services through licensed private employment agencies (PEAs), the wage rate prescribed in this order shall be borne by the principals or clients of the PEAs and the contract shall be deemed amended accordingly," the wage order reads.
"In the event that the principals or clients fail to pay the prescribed wage rate, the PEAs shall be jointly and severally liable with their principals or clients," it said.
No employers will be exempted from the new rates, the wage order added. In June 2025, the RTWPB-NCR approved a P50 increase in the daily minimum wage of minimum wage earners in Metro Manila. — Sundy Locus/BM, GMA Integrated News
