NGCP announces increase in transmission charges for February 2026
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Thursday announced an increase in transmission charges in the February 2026 electricity bills of end-consumers.
In an advisory, the NGCP said the overall average transmission rate for the billing period rose by 13.55% to P1.5279 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) from P1.3455 per kWh in the prior period.
The increment was due to the increases in both the ancillary services (AS) rate and the transmission wheeling rate.
The AS —the cost of services sourced from the reserve market and bilateral contracts— increased to P0.6736 per kWh from P0.5971 per kWh.
Meanwhile, NGCP's transmission wheeling rate, or the fee for delivering electricity through the transmission grid, stood at P0.6921 per kWh from P0.6058 per kWh.
"For the February 2026 electric bill of power consumers, NGCP charges only around 69 centavos per kWh for the delivery of its services,” the grid operator said, noting that its revenues are
regulated and revenue-capped by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
Transmission charges for the January billing period are passed on to end-users through distribution utilities and electric cooperatives, it said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
