Mixed movement in fuel prices expected next week

Mixed movement in fuel prices expected next week

Mixed movements in the pump prices of petroleum products are again expected next week, according to the Department of Energy - Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) on Friday.

Assistant Director Rodela Romero said the following fuel price adjustments are expected next week:

  • Gasoline - more or less rollback of P 0.45
  • Diesel - more or less increase of P 0.05
  • Kerosene - more or less increase of P 0.10

The expected adjustments are based on the 4-day trading in Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS), excluding the oil companies’ operating costs and other premiums.

"During the week of February 16 to 19, 2026, global oil prices were shaped by a combination of geopolitical tensions, supply expectations, inventory movements and market sentiment. But the expected adjustments for next week were heavily influenced by heightened geopolitical risks between US and Iran; and, Russian and Ukraine," Romero said.

"US-Iran nuclear negotiations created uncertainty with Pres. Trump warning of possible military action if no deal was reached. Likewise, the Eastern Europe tensions, including a Ukrainian drone strike on a Russian Black Sea port, added concerns about potential supply disruptions," she added.

Oil companies announce official price adjustments every Monday, to be implemented on the following day. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
