EV maker plans to put up manufacturing plant in PH — DTI

A foreign electric vehicles (EV) company is planning to set up a manufacturing facility in the Philippines, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said Tuesday.

“There is an EV manufacturer coming… a big one,” Trade Secretary Cristina Roque told reporters at the sidelines of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Editors and Economic Opinion Leaders Forum in Makati City.

“There’s an EV manufacturing plant…The talks are really progressing,” Roque said.

The Trade chief declined to disclose further details such as the nationality of the EV maker and the amount of investments it is planning to pour into the country.

Roque, however, said the EV maker would be making a “substantial investment” and that discussions are targeted to be concluded “within the year.” — BAP, GMA Integrated News
