BSP pegs faster February 2026 inflation

BSP pegs faster February 2026 inflation

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is expecting the country’s inflation rate to accelerate faster in February 2026.

In its month-ahead inflation forecast, the BSP said it projects this month’s inflation to be within the range of 2.3% to 3.1%.

The central bank’s forecast range is faster compared to the 2% inflation rate seen in January 2026.

“Upward price pressures could stem from higher prices of rice and fish, elevated domestic petroleum prices, and increased electricity charges in Meralco-serviced areas,” the BSP said.

“These pressures, however, may be partly offset by lower prices of vegetables, fruits, and meat, as well as peso appreciation,” it said.

The Philippine Statistics Authority is scheduled to announce the official inflation data for February 2026 on March 5, 2026.

The BSP said it will continue to monitor domestic and international developments to ensure that its policy settings remain consistent with the pursuit of price stability conducive with sustainable growth and employment. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
