Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) has temporarily suspended its flights between Manila and key Middle East destinations, including Dubai and Doha, until April 30 due to ongoing security concerns in the region.

Affected routes include Manila–Dubai–Manila (PR 658/659) and Manila–Doha (PR 684/685), with an additional cancellation of the Doha–Manila flight on May 1.

PAL said the move is a precautionary measure amid the “security situation” in parts of the Middle East, which has affected airspace operations and flight safety.

“The safety of our passengers, crew, and aircraft remains our highest priority,” the airline said, adding that the suspension was necessary while conditions remain uncertain.

The airline said it is closely monitoring developments and coordinating with aviation authorities on when normal operations can safely resume.

Affected passengers may avail of the following options:

  • Free rebooking once flights resume
  • Conversion to travel credits
  • Full refunds, subject to applicable policies

PAL said its customer service teams are assisting passengers through its website, contact centers, and ticket offices.

The airline noted that many passengers on these routes are overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who rely on flights between the Philippines and the Middle East.

It added that cargo operations on the affected routes have also been disrupted, with efforts underway to arrange alternative routing for essential shipments.

PAL said it will continue to review the situation and adjust its operations as developments unfold in the region.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
