BOC: Many show interest in Zaldy Co’s 11 luxury vehicles up for auction

Many people have shown interest in bidding for former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co’s 11 luxury vehicles which will be auctioned off on Friday, March 27, according to the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

“Sa ngayon, marami na nagpakita ng interest ng kanilang kagustuhang sumali [Right now, many are interested in joining the bidding],” BOC deputy chief of staff Chris Bendijo said in a public briefing on Tuesday.

In a social media post, BOC said the 11 luxury vehicles include one Mercedes-Benz G650 V12 Biturbo and one Ferrari SF90 Stradale (Mansory).

Interested bidders may check the vehicle descriptions and specifications on the BOC’s social media post.

Meanwhile, public viewing is open until Thursday, March 26.

Bidder registration for those who have submitted complete requirements will remain open until Thursday.

Bendijo said the government could earn P2 million if all 11 luxury vehicles are sold, based on the floor price.

Last week, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) asked the BOC to retrieve the luxury vehicles linked to Co that are parked in its compound.

These include a Rolls-Royce, three Cadillacs, and two Lexuses.

In January, authorities seized several luxury vehicles linked to Co, who is facing malversation and graft charges filed against him over a P289 million substandard road dike project in Oriental Mindoro.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group - National Capital Region said the vehicles were registered to different entities, including Sunwest Construction, which was co-founded by Co, and his wife’s name.

The Sandiganbayan has also ordered the seizure of at least 16 of Co’s properties to secure the potential payment of P215 million in civil liability if Co is convicted of the charges.

These include lot/houses and lot and condominiums in Makati, Pasig, Quezon City, and Lipa, Batangas.

Co, who has been out of the Philippines since July 2025, was declared a fugitive by the anti-graft court in December.

Based on an apostille attached to a petition filed with the Supreme Court, the former lawmaker has "emerged" in Stockholm, Sweden at least on January 15. — BM, GMA Integrated News
