DBM releases P16.5B to DPWH to pay for ongoing infra projects

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Wednesday said it has released P16.5 billion to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to keep the construction of key infrastructure projects up and running.

In a statement, the DBM said the amount released was through the issuance of a Notice of Cash Allocation (NCA).

It covers the settlement of the DPWH’s due and demandable accounts payable.

“Government spending, especially in infrastructure, has a strong multiplier effect. When we release funds on time, we support jobs, strengthen businesses, and accelerate project completion – creating immediate and tangible benefits for our people,” said DBM Secretary Rolando Toledo.

The DBM said the P16.5 billion funds will be subsequently downloaded by the DPWH to its various implementing units across 17 regions nationwide, “enabling the timely payment of completed and ongoing infrastructure projects and preventing delays in public service delivery.”

The released funds underwent strict validation to ensure that only properly supported and documented obligations are approved, consistent with budgeting, accounting, and auditing rules.

“We ensure that every peso is backed by complete documentation and aligned with the law. That is how we balance speed with accountability,” Toledo added. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
