Marcos OKs expansion of First Philippine Industrial Park II in Batangas

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved the inclusion of four parcels of land into the existing First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) II Special Economic Zone in Sto. Tomas City, Batangas.

This was according to Proclamation 1206 signed by the President on March 30 and published on the Official Gazette website.

The four parcels of land have an aggregate area of 71,982 square meters and are located in Barangay San Rafael, Sto. Tomas City.

Its inclusion into the special economic zone was recommended by the board of directors of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), as provided for by Republic Act 7916 or the Special Economic Zone Act.

One of the largest, fastest-growing industrial parks in the country, the FPIP is a joint venture of First Philippine Holdings (FPH) and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation.

It was established in 1996 and is a special ecozone with over 500 hectares, hosting companies in the aerospace, automotive, consumer goods, electronics, medical devices, and office equipment industries. — JMA, GMA News
