BOC exceeds Q1 2026 target with P239-B collection
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) surpassed its collection target in the first quarter of 2026, the Department of Finance (DOF) said Thursday.
Citing preliminary data, the DOF said the BOC collected a total of P239.054 billion in January to March, exceeding its target by 1.3% and growing 3.3% from a year ago.
“The Bureau of Customs’ highest-ever first-quarter collection demonstrates that our commitment to reforms, transparency, and accountability is delivering real results,” said Finance Secretary Frederick Go.
“These gains will directly support the government’s priority programs and benefit the Filipino people,” said Go.
The DOF said the BOC’s first quarter performance was on the back of collective efforts of its ports and subports nationwide such as its “intensified campaign against illegal trade.”
The Finance Department said the Customs’ January to March period collection was also bolstered by the successful public auction of forfeited goods—particularly smuggled high-end vehicles—effectively converting illicit assets into public revenue.
Moreover, the DOF likewise cited the bureau’s strengthened post-clearance audit operations, reinforcing compliance with customs laws and ensuring the accurate payment of duties and taxes.
“Every peso we collect helps fund essential services, advance national development, and build a better future for every Filipino,” said Go. —VAL, GMA News
