Motorists will get some relief this week as fuel retailers on Monday announced pump price rollbacks. However, these are not enough to offset 13 consecutive weeks of increases for gasoline, and 15 straight weeks for both diesel and kerosene.

Companies with price advisories so far:

Petron Corp.

  • Diesel: - P20.89 per liter
  • Gasoline: - P4.43 per liter
  • Kerosene: - P8.50 per liter

Shell Pilipinas Corp.

  • Diesel: - P23.00 per liter
  • Gasoline: - P6.50 per liter
  • Kerosene: - P11.50 per liter

Unioil Petroleum Philippines Corp.

  • Diesel: - P20.90 per liter
  • Gasoline: - P4.50 per liter

The adjustments will take effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

?Other firms have yet to make similar announcements for the week.

The Department of Energy (DOE) earlier projected rollbacks of P4.43 per liter for gasoline, P20.89 per liter for diesel, and P8.50 per liter for kerosene, based on average international trading prices in the past week compared with the previous week.

DOE Secretary Sharon Garin said, however, that pump prices are unlikely to return to the P60-per-liter level due to damage to infrastructure, including Iran’s Pars gas field—one of the world’s largest natural gas deposits—which was struck last month.

Retailers last week implemented another round of price increases after then-US President Donald Trump threatened to target Iran’s power plants and bridges if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened by 8 p.m. Tuesday (Eastern Time), or 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Philippines (April 8).

With less than two hours before his deadline, Trump agreed to a ceasefire with Iran, subject to Tehran’s agreement to pause its blockade of oil and gas shipments through the strait.

Over the weekend, however, Trump said the US Navy would immediately blockade the strait after talks with Tehran failed to produce a deal to end the conflict.—MCG/RF, GMA News
