Gasoline, diesel prices up anew, kerosene down Tuesday, May 5, 2026
Motorists will have to pay more for petroleum products this week, as retailers on Monday announced another round of price hikes to mark the second straight week of increases for gasoline.
In separate advisories, Seaoil Philippines Corp. and Shell Pilipinas Corp. said they will hike prices per liter of gasoline by P2.21 and diesel by P2.66, while rolling back those of kerosene by P3.53.
The adjustments will take effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
Other firms have yet to make similar announcements for the week.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin earlier projected price hikes this week, citing the depreciation of the Philippine peso which hit a record intraday low of P61.75:$1 last Thursday, and closed at a record low of P61.567:$1 last Wednesday.
Firms last week hiked prices per liter of gasoline by P0.53, while rolling back of those diesel by P12.94, and kerosene by P15.71. — RSJ, GMA News
