Yellow alert for Visayas grid lifted on Thursday, May 28, 2026 — NGCP
The Yellow Alert implemented over the Visayas Grid was lifted on Thursday evening, the National Grid Power Corporation (NGCP) announced.
As of 10:19 p.m., the NGCP lifted the yellow alert has been for the Visayas grid.
In an advisory, the NGCP said the available capacity was reported at 2,548MW while the demand is at 2,258MW.
"A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid's contingency requirement," the NGCP said.
The yellow alert status was in place from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on May 28.
This comes as the available capacity was recorded at 2,532 megawatts (MW) versus the peak demand of 2,388 MW, while a total of 1,006.2 MW remains unavailable to the grid.
NGCP said 13 plants are on forced outage since May 2026, one plant since March 2026, three plants since 2025, two plants since 2024, two plants since 2023, and one plant since 2021, while 14 plants are running on derated capacities. — BAP, GMA News
