Tesla launches 1st ‘supercharging’ stations in PH

Tesla Philippines on Wednesday launched its first “supercharging” stations for its electric vehicles in the Philippines.

In a news release, Tesla Philippines said the establishment of four “supercharging” stations at Uptown Mall, Bonifacio Global City “signifies a significant step forward in enabling electric vehicles charging across the country where Tesla will continue putting effort in expanding its charging network in the future.”

The electric car maker said a supercharging station, operating at the peak efficiency of 250 kilowatts (kW), can charge up a Tesla car to last up to 120 kilometers in only five minutes. 

The company said supercharging will be available on a pay-per-use basis at P19 per kW. It will cost P1,140 to fully charge a Tesla Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive with a range up to 513 kilometers.

The Tesla Model 3 costs P2,136,000 (inclusive of VAT) while Model Y at P2,396,000 (inclusive of VAT), both are now available to view and order in the Philippines. — BM, GMA Integrated News
