PH vehicle sales up in September

More vehicles were added to Philippine streets in September than in the previous month, signaling renewed consumer confidence and sustained market momentum, a report released by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) on Thursday showed.

There were 38,029 units sold in September, 5.1% higher than the 36,174 units sold in August.

September’s vehicle sales were 3.8% lower than the 39,542 units sold in September 2024.

“The September results reflect the industry’s adaptability and commitment to innovation,” CAMPI president Atty. Rommel Gutierrez said in an emailed statement.

“As we continue to embrace electrification and expand commercial mobility solutions, we remain optimistic about closing the year on a high note,” he added.

Commercial vehicles accounted for 30,081 units or 79.10% of the market for the month, while the remaining 7,948 units or 20.90% were passenger cars.

A total of 2,223 electric vehicles were sold in September — 1,750 hybrid, 379 battery, and 94 plug-in hybrid.

Sales of Asian utility vehicles stood at 7,943 units; light-commercial vehicles at 21,109 units; light-duty trucks and buses at 589 units; medium-duty trucks and buses at 371 units; and heavy-duty trucks and buses at 69 units.
