The second tranche of toll rate hikes for the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) and the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) will take effect on July 1, 2026, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) announced on Friday.

The adjustment stems from an approved consolidated petition covering the years 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2024.

The first tranche of the increase was implemented in January this year to help ease the impact on motorists.

The SLEX is a major toll road stretching about 36 kilometers from Muntinlupa City to Santo Tomas, Batangas, serving as a key gateway linking Metro Manila to the provinces of Laguna and Batangas.

It is one of the busiest expressways in the country, handling thousands of private and commercial vehicles daily.

Meanwhile, the STAR Tollway spans about 42 kilometers from Santo Tomas to Batangas City, providing faster access to southern Batangas and the Port of Batangas.

It also serves as a vital route for motorists heading to key tourism and industrial areas in the region.

The rate adjustments will be implemented by Star Infrastructure Development Corporation (SIDC) and San Miguel Corporation’s SLEX, Inc.

The approved toll rates for SLEX are as follows:

Alabang to Calamba

  • Class 1 – P137
  • Class 2 – P274
  • Class 3 – P411

Calamba to Sto. Tomas

  • Class 1 – P37
  • Class 2 – P74
  • Class 3 – P111

These reflect increases of P11, P21, and P32 for Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles, respectively, for the Alabang-to-Calamba segment.

For the Calamba-to-Sto. Tomas section, toll rates will increase by P3, P6, and P9 for Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles, respectively.

For the STAR Tollway, the TRB approved the following rates:

Sto. Tomas to Lipa (Section 1)

  • Class 1 – P64
  • Class 2 – P128
  • Class 3 – P192

Lipa to Batangas City (Section 2)

  • Class 1 – P57
  • Class 2 – P114
  • Class 3 – P171

Sto. Tomas to Batangas City (end-to-end)

  • Class 1 – P121
  • Class 2 – P242
  • Class 3 – P363

For Section 1, toll rates will go up by P4, P9, and P13 for Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles, respectively. Section 2 will also see increases of P4, P8, and P12.

For end-to-end trips, motorists will pay an additional P8 for Class 1, P17 for Class 2, and P26 for Class 3 vehicles.

The TRB said the toll adjustments would help fund the continued operations and maintenance of both expressways, ensuring safer, faster, and more convenient travel for motorists.—MCG, GMA News
