The Senate on Wednesday approved the proposed P14.6-billion supplemental budget that will be used to fund rehabilitation efforts after the country was hit by several disasters this year, including Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).

Fifteen senators voted in favor of House Bill 3423 proposing the supplemental budget, which was earlier certified urgent by President Benigno Aquino III.

The P14.6-billion supplemental budget, sourced from the lawmakers' unused Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) this year, will be tapped to augment calamity funds and to rebuild areas devastated by recent calamities.

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives also green-lighted the supplemental budget in a 213-6 vote. — Andreo Calonzo/KBK, GMA News
