The Bureau of Customs (BoC) intercepted a parcel containing P1.515 million worth of "Ecstasy" pills from The Netherlands, whihc the bureau immediately turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

In an e-mailed statement, the BoC said the parcel containing 1,010 tables of methylenedioxy methamphetamine or MDMA, otherwise known as “Ecstasy,” was seized Thursday night.

The parcel arrived at the Parañaque Post Office on December 22, Deputy Commissioner Jessie Dellosa said.

“Illegal drug traders have attempted to use the postal service repeatedly to move various types of drugs, because of the anonymity and the perception of lower risk.

"We will continue to with PDEA and other law enforcement agencies to stop the entry of illegal drugs and other contraband goods,” the BoC official said.

Last Monday, authorities seized 40 kilograms of high-grade methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as "shabu," worth an estimated P400 million concealed inside water pumps sent from Hong Kong via air cargo. – Danessa O. Rivera/VS, GMA News
