GSIS to release earlier on April 1 members' pensions

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will be releasing the pensions of its members earlier than the original schedule in a bid to help augment their needs in light of the COVID-19 enhanced community quarantine over the entire Luzon.

In an interview during the Laging Handa public briefing on Saturday, GSIS president and general manager Rolando Macasaet said pensions will be disbursed through members’ ATM cards at 9 p.m. on April 1, 2020.

“So by April 2, they can withdraw it,” Macasaet said.

The GSIS chief said pensions are usually released every eight of the month.

Apart from early release of pensions, the GSIS is also granting a one month grace period for payment of premiums, remittances, and loans. Payment schedule is on May 10.

GSIS is also offering P20,000 emergency loan to active members and pensioners with an interest rate of 6% per annum, payable in three years. —Ted Cordero/LBG, GMA News
