BPI, Robinsons partner for free cash withdrawal in stores

Ayala-led Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has partnered with the Gokongwei group to allow customers to withdraw cash for free in stores of Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. (RRHI) across the nation.

Under the partnership, BPI customers will be able to withdraw cash without their ATM cards, using a generated barcode through the BPI mobile app, and present them at RRHI partner stores.

The service will be initially available in some 300 RRHI food category stores, including Robinsons Easymart, Robinsons Supermarket, No Brand, The Marketplace, Shopwise, Robinsons Department Store, and Toys ‘R’ Us.

“The added advantage here is simple: they don’t have to make an extra trip just to withdraw cash. They can do it while doing their groceries, or while shopping at the department store,” BPI president and chief executive officer Jose Teodoro “TG” Limcaoco said.

Limcaoco earlier said Philippine banks are starting to tokenize their cards, a key step toward integrating with technology service providers Apple Pay and Google Pay. — BAP/AOL, GMA Integrated News
