'Drug surrenderee,' three others killed in Manila anti-drug ops

Four drug suspects were killed in two separate anti-illegal drugs operations in Manila, including a "drug surrenderee" who reportedly continued to sell drugs even after surrendering to authorities.

Three alleged drug pushers were killed in a joint buy-bust operation by Manila Police's District Anti-Illegal Drugs (DAID), Districts Special Operation Unit, and District Intel Operation Unit in Pandacan, Manila around 10:00 p.m. Friday.

The target of the operation was a certain Rodolfo "Ompong" Valdez, who reportedly surrendered to the authorities on July 4 but the police learned that he was still selling illegal drugs, prompting them to conduct a buy-bust operation.

When Valdez allegedly pulled out a gun upon noticing that his drug buyer was a poser, police officers immediately ran to his house where the encounter happened.

The suspect and his two companions, Ryan Da Silva and Cesar Blanco, were killed in the incident.

The police recovered 20 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P125,000, two guns, and a knife from the suspects.

However, Helen Vidanes, Blanco's live-in partner, claimed that her partner was not a pusher but a police asset from Camp Crame.

However, PC/Insp. Manny Israel, chief of Manila DAID, insisted that the three killed suspects were all involved in illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, another drug suspect identified as Sonny was killed in a buy-bust operation after trying to resist arrest by shooting at the policemen in Baseco Compound, Manila.

According to Baseco Police Community Precinct Commander PS/Insp. Joebie Astucia, P300,000 worth of shabu was bought by their poser buyer.
