Police kill 3 suspected carjackers in Quezon City


Police killed three suspected carjackers in an encounter in Quezon City, Sunday night.

Senior Inspector Manuel dela Cruz, chief of Quezon City Police District's District Anti-Carnapping Group Special Operations Unit, said the suspects' group forcibly took a taxicab from Alberto Topacio in Kamuning area.

Based on Topacio's complaint, four men forcibly entered his cab and forced him to exit the vehicle.

After the driver reported the carjacking, anti-carnapping units were alarmed and chanced upon the suspects at a checkpoint along North Avenue around 11 p.m.

Dela Cruz said the suspects fired at policemen as they attempted to escape. Policemen fired back and killed three of the suspects.

A fourth suspect, who was driving the stolen taxicab, was able to escape.

Police said three .45 pistols were recovered from the suspects. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/ALG, GMA News
