Pregnant woman yields P3M worth of shabu in Caloocan City

Anti-illegal drug agents on Thursday arrested an eight-month pregnant drug suspect in Caloocan City for allegedly peddling shabu worth P3 million.

GMA News' Mav Gonzales on "Unang Balita" said that Caloocan Police identified the suspect as Rohannie Magdara, 30, who was supposed to deliver packets of shabu weighing a total of 500 grams (half a kilo).

Also, the police said that the packets of shabu bore the names of her buyers.

Meanwhile, authorities believed that Magdara was the drug source of another suspect identified as Julius Garcia, who was arrested in buy-bust operation in Caloocan last Wednesday.

Police also arrested certain Zaldy Medina and Jeremy Perez, who were transacting with Garcia during the sting operation.

"Na-buy bust namin yung isang courier ng drugs at pati yung mga binabagsakan niya nakuha rin namin," Chief Insp. Cecilio Tomas Jr. of Northern Police District - Drug Enforcement Unit said.

"Ang order namin [para sa buy bust] ... ay nasa isang bulto, 5 grams lang. Nasa P5,000 na binibili sa kanila," he added.

Authorities are monitoring Magdara's condition as she is already almost due for giving birth.

Charges are being prepared against all the four suspects for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/LBG, GMA News
