Shakeup hits MPD amid rape raps vs. station commander

The Manila Police District has undergone a reshuffle of its officials, following the suspension of one of its station commanders over rape charges.

A report by James Mateo on Dobol B sa News TV said MPD Station 9 Commander Superintendent Robert Domingo was assigned to replace Station 4 Commander Supt. Andrew Aguirre.

Aguirre was recently slapped with a 90-day suspension over rape charges lodged against him while he was still assigned in Nueva Ecija.

Senior Supt.  Danilo Macerin, chief of the MPD's Directorial Staff, clarified that Aguirre's suspension had nothing to do with a separate case against his personnel, Police Officer 1 Edgardo Valencia, who is accused of raping a 15-year-old daughter of arrested drug suspects in exchange for her parents' release.

Taking over the post to be vacated by Domingo in Station 9 is Supt. Carlito Grijaldo, chief of the MPD Investigation Division.

Meanwhile, Sr. Supt. Marcelino Pedroso will be the officer-in-charge of MPD while MPD Director Chief Supt. Rolando Anduyan is on leave. — Joviland Rita/MDM, GMA News
