BFP forms team to probe Star City fire

The Bureau of Fire Protection in the National Capital Region (BFP NCR) has formed an investigating team to look into the fire that hit the Star City theme park on Wednesday.

The team will visit Star City on Thursday to conduct an inspection, according to Pasay Fire Marshal Superintendent Paul Pili.

Around 90% of the popular theme park was razed by the fire. Management pegged the damage at P1 billion. The BFP, however, has pegged its estimate at P15 million pending further investigation.

Ed de Leon, spokesperson of Star City owner Star Parks Corporation, said 25 rides and attractions in Star City’s covered area were damaged by the fire. These include Gabi ng Lagim, Dungeon of Terror, Bump Car Smash, and Snow World.

Firefighters and a firetruck spent the night monitoring the area for sparks and to prevent entry of looters.

According to Atty. Rudolph Jularbal, spokesperson for the Elizalde Group of Companies, the fire spared Aliw Theater. —Jonathan Andal/KBK, GMA News
