QC Mayor Joy Belmonte announces confirmed COVID-19 case in the city


Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Monday announced there is a confirmed case of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the city.

Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council head Myke Marasigan said the mayor did not disclose any further information when she announced it during a flag ceremony, according to a report by Allan Gatus on Dobol B sa News TV aired on GMA News TV.

 

“I would like to make an announcement. There is a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in Quezon City,” Belmonte during her first State of the Women Address for Women’s Month at Quezon City Hall Plaza.

“I cannot give you details at the moment except to say that this positive individual is from the 1st District,” she added.

On Sunday, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that the number of COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 10 due to four new cases.

Interviewed on CNN Philippines, Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the patient from QC was among the 10 cases confirmed by the Department of Health.

The Quezon City government is now conducting investigation and contact tracing in connection with the confirmed case.
