‘No face mask, no entry’ implemented in San Juan police station

Following news of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in San Juan City, policemen have taken extra measures in preventing the spread of the virus.

Before making their rounds in the city, San Juan policemen disinfected their hands and wore face masks.

The chief of the San Juan police Colonel Jim Santos even handed out Vitamin C tablets to his subordinates.

"Kailangan ng katawan natin yun. Kahit naghuhugas ng kamay, naghihilamos ka palagi kung di malakas ang immune system ko balewala yun," he said.

Meanwhile, a police station in San Juan, featured in Marisol Abdurahman's "24 Oras" report, has strictly enforced the "No face mask, no entry" policy.

Several residents who visited the station were supposed to get their police clearances on that day, but were not allowed inside since they did not wear masks.

"Sinunod ko lang po. Pasensya na po," Police Staff Sergeant Ambrosio Lazada said.

The police station said that it has also temporarily suspended visits to detainees in light of the COVID-19 threat.

Guests who wanted to hand something to the detainees had to give it through the police desk.

According to the report, the police are making rounds every night to ensure that the curfew hours are being followed by children who were advised to stay home following the suspension of classes in Metro Manila.

As of Wednesday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has reached 49, with 16 new cases reported by the Department of Health (DOH).

According to San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, seven of the cases that tested positive for the virus came from the city. —Angelica Yang/LDF, GMA News
