COVID-19 cases in QC now at 72; four die, one recovers


Quezon City on Wednesday reported 10 new cases of COVID-19 in the city with four reported deaths and one recovery, making the total number of cases at 72.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Quezon City Health Department reported additional 10 patients from the following barangays as of March 24, 2020 at 7 p.m.:

District 1:
- Brgy. Lourdes - 1 patient

District 3:
- Brgy. West Kamias - 1 patient
- Brgy. Matandang Balara - 1 patient

District 4:
- Brgy. Bagong Lipunan sa Crame - 2 patients
- Brgy. South Triangle - 1 patient
- Brgy. Paligsahan - 1 patient

District 6:
- Brgy. Culiat - 2 patients
- Brgy. Sauyo - 1 patient


The total number of deaths in the city is now at 10 with the reported additional four deaths as of March 24, 2020, at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries in Quezon City is at seven with the reported one new recovery, also as of March 24, 2020, at 7 p.m.

The Quezon City local government is now implementing extreme enhanced community quarantine in the following barangays as of March 24, 2020, 7 p.m.:

- Tandang Sora
- Kalusugan
- Ramon Magsaysay
- Maharlika
- Tatalon
- Batasan Hills
- Pasong Tamo
- Central
- San Roque
- Paligsahan
- Bagong Lipunan ng Crame
- South Triangle


Extreme enhanced quarantine is also implemented in Barangay Central due to the hospitals along East Avenue.

The local government of Quezon City reported they have already distributed 379,000 food packs as of March 24 at 11 p.m.

The city is now allotting 10 buses, from the previous four buses on March 23, to ferry passengers to and from work with schedules of 5:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

One bus has been allotted each for Quezon City General Hospital, Novaliches District Hospital, Rosario Maclang-Bautista General Hospital, East Avenue Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, and Batasan Health Center.

Four buses will also provide service to 35 hospitals in the city.

The Quezon City local government announced that the Quezon City University will be used as one of the quarantine facilities for persons under investigation (PUIs), after it was disinfected and partition tents were set-up in one of its buildings.
