The Marikina City government lifted its liquor ban on Saturday, the same day the modified enhanced community quarantine started in Metro Manila.

Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro signed Ordinance No. 64 Series of 2020 modifying the liquor ban, allowing the sale of liquors and alcoholic drinks.

Drinking in public places and restaurants or bars, however, is still prohibited, and Marikina residents are advised to consume alcoholic drinks only inside their residences while observing social distancing and other health and safety protocols.

"Inom mayaman, kanya kanyang basong inuman," the Marikina City said in its Facebook post.

Quezon City has also previously lifted its liquor ban.

Also on Saturday, the Pasay City government clarified in its Facebook post that it did not lift the liquor ban, but only a "modified" liquor ban was implemented.
