186 MRT3 personnel positive for COVID-19, including 17 deployed to stations


Some 57 more employees of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3) tested positive for the coronavirus disease, with over a thousand more set to be screened moving forward.

According to data released by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Monday, there are now a total of 186 MRT3 personnel who tested positive for COVID-19, up from the 127 last week.

Broken down, the DOTr said majority of the confirmed cases were recorded in personnel of the MRT Depot with 169, while the remaining 17 workers were deployed at the MRT Stations.

The DOTr said a total of 1,507 personnel have already been tested, including 185 station personnel and 1,322 depot personnel.

Moving forward, a total of 1,792 personnel still have to be tested -- 1,396 station personnel, and 396 depot personnel.

The Philippines has recorded a total of 44,254 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday, July 5, 2020. This includes 11,942 recoveries and 1,297 deaths. —KBK, GMA News
