Veteran radio broadcaster Neil Ocampo passes away at 62

Veteran radio broadcaster Neil Ocampo passed away on Monday, August 10, his son confirmed. He was 62.

"Our dad, Neil Ocampo, joined our Creator today, August 10th. Please join my family in prayers for the eternal repose of his soul," Aristotle Neil Ocampo said in a Facebook post.

Ocampo's remains, however, will not be available for public viewing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Unfortunately we cannot risk everyone’s health and safety, in light of the pandemic, therefore we will have to limit the viewing of ashes to our immediate family members. Thank you for your understanding," Ocampo's son said.

While being a newscaster, Ocampo is also known for using his talent to create different characters, including "Mang Tonyo," a mayor who went behind bars due to rape charges; "Kiskis Flavor," a former Department of Health Secretary; and "Tongressman Manhik-Manaog" who had a similar voice with Leo Martinez, according to pep.ph.

Ocampo also ran for mayor of Marilao, Bulacan in 2010. —Jamil Santos/LDF, GMA News
