Murder case to be filed vs. cop seen on video shooting woman in QC —Eleazar

Philippine National Police chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Tuesday said that a murder case will be filed against a police officer who was seen on video shooting a 52-year-old woman in Quezon City on Monday.

In a press conference, Eleazar said he instructed Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Police Brigadier General Antonio Candido Yarra to file the murder case against Police Master Sergeant Hensie Zinampan.

“Nagbigay ako ng instruction sa direktor ng QCPD, dahil lahat naman ng ebidensiya na kailangan na gagamitin natin para ma-file-an ng kasong murder, is ma-file agad namin," he said.

(I instructed the QCPD director to file the case immediately since all evidence needed were available to file a murder case.)

A video taken on Monday night showed that the suspect shot dead the victim identified as Lilibeth Valdez in Barangay Greater Fairview.

The victim's daughter said her mother was at the store when the suspect approached her, pulled her hair and shot the victim in the neck.

Police said according to the victim's daughter, the victim's son and the suspect were engaged in a fistfight on May 1, and after the incident, the same cop issued a threat.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the police.

He was assigned at the Philippine National Police – Police Security and Protection Group and was turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) in Camp Karingal.

Initially, the suspect denied that he killed the victim even with the presence of the video showing the shooting incident. —KG, GMA News
