LRT Baclaran terminal resumes operation; mall fire 'under control'

MANILA, Philippines - After two days of being out of operation, the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 terminal in Baclaran was finally opened to commuters Tuesday night. DZBB reported the LRT Baclaran Station resumed operations at 7 p.m., some 48 hours after a fire that hit a nearby mall Sunday night was "confined" and eventually placed under control. LRT Administration head Melquiades Robles said this was an important development as many devotees are expected to ride the LRT to Baclaran Church for their Wednesday masses and novenas. The LRT was forced to cut its operations Sunday night after fire of still undetermined origin hit a nearby mall. Firefighters declared the fire "under control" as of 10:45 p.m. Tuesday. - GMANews.TV
