OWWA confirms Arnell Ignacio has resigned from his post

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration confirmed that Arnell Ignacio has resigned from his post as deputy administrator.

OWWA administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said Ignacio resigned due to personal reasons, according to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita on Wednesday.

President Rodrigo Duterte has yet to accept the resignation of Ignacio.

Duterte’s spokesperson Salvador Panelo told Dobol B sa News TV on Wednesday that he was aware of Ignacio’s resignation.

When told by GMA News anchor Arnold Clavio that Ignacio resigned because the latter had sacrificed a lot while in government, Panelo said: “Siguro nga, baka nahirapan.”

Ignacio told GMA News on Tuesday that he has resigned from his post, but declined to give the reason.

Duterte appointed Ignacio to the OWWA post in 2018.

Prior to his appointment, Ignacio was the assistant vice president for community relations and services of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation. —With a report from Virgil Lopez/KG, GMA News
