The Philippines is hailed as the 69th happiest country in the world, based on the 2019 World Happiness Report of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

According to a report on GMA News TV's Balitanghali on Thursday, the study was conducted in 156 countries around the globe and its result was based on different factors such as income, freedom, trust, healthy life expectancy, social support, and generosity.

The Philippines moved two notches higher this year from its previous rank as 71st.

It edged out some developed countries such as Hong Kong (rank 76), Turkey (rank 79), and China (rank 93).

This year's happiest country in the world was Finland, which also secured the top spot in 2018.

Meanwhile, among the bottom three were South Sudan, Central African Republic, and Afghanistan. —Dona Magsino/LBG, GMA News
