JV Ejercito blames Jinggoy's candidacy for senatorial race outcome

Reelectionist Senator JV Ejercito said on Wednesday the candidacy of his half brother Jinggoy Estrada was the "greatest problem" that hindered him from landing in the Top 12.

"I think that was the biggest challenge. The biggest problem. Natural 'yun eh, bihira ang boboto ng dalawa, kasi dose 'yan. Pipili lang 'yan ng isa," Ejercito said in a report by Jam Sisante-Cayco on GMA's 24 Oras.

"Kahit konsehal, board member, kagawad, 'pag tumakbo ang magkapatid. Natural 'yan, either mamili ng isa o kaya may malilito," he added.

Ejercito had earlier said that their clan had spread itself too thin in the recently-conducted midterm elections, leading to the failed bids of many of them.

JV is the son of former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada with former actress and outgoing San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez. Jinggoy, on the other hand, is the former President’s son with his wife Loi Ejercito.

Based on the partial and unofficial tally in the Commission on Elections' transparency server as of 7:44 p.m. on Wednesday, Ejercito ranks 13th with 14,045,547 votes while Estrada got the 15th spot with 11,156,574 votes.
