Locsin on Reed bank incident: F*ck the international community

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. is not keen on seeking support from the international community following the incident in Reed Bank where a Filipino fishing boat sank after it was reportedly rammed by a Chinese vessel.

"F*ck the international community. It can be bought. This is our fight and in the end ours alone," Locsin said on Twitter.

He was replying to Twitter user @skokiemanila whose tweet to him on Wednesday read: "Formal protest.. talk talk talk.. present it to international community.. ask other friendly nation for support. (Wait) for the political result."

Locsin on Thursday tweeted that he already "fired off" a diplomatic protest against China over the Reed bank incident.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, who bared the incident on Wednesday, denounced the Chinese vessel for immediately sailing away after the collision, putting the lives of the 22 Filipino crewmen in peril. The collision happened Sunday evening.

Locsin said he found the abandonment of the Filipino fishermen "contemptible and condemnable."

Malacañang, on the other hand, has called for an investigation into the incident and the imposition of sanctions against the Chinese crew for abandoning the Filipino fishermen. —Margaret Claire Layug/KBK, GMA News
