‘Strong evidence’ backs sedition complaint vs opposition – lawyer

Lawyer Larry Gadon on Friday said the sedition complaint on the alleged involvement of former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and several others in the "Ang Totoong Narco-list" videos, which linked members of President Rodrigo Duterte's family to illegal drugs, was backed by “strong evidence.”

During a media forum, Gadon said he “assisted” Peter Joel “Bikoy" Advincula, the hooded figure in the videos, in executing his affidavit and insisted that there was evidence to prove oppositionists' involvement in the videos.

As to who among the 37 respondents named in the complaint had been most implicated by this evidenced, Gadon said Trillanes was one of them.

“Siya yung pinakamadalas na kausap ni Peter Advincula. Makikita ito lahat siguro sa mga emails nila at saka du’n sa mga resibo ng mga gamit na pinabili kay Peter Advincula,” Gadon said, referring to materials allegedly used to make the “Bikoy” videos.

Gadon also released portions of Advincula’s affidavit, in which he claimed that Trillanes had called a meeting inside the Ateneo de Manila University campus last February to “finalize the destabilization plot via political view.”

Trillanes, who was among over 30 respondents in the complaint filed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Thursday, had slammed the charges as a "clear act of political persecution and harassment by the Duterte administration meant to stifle democratic dissent."

Aside from Trillanes, charges were also filed against Vice President Leni Robredo, Senators Leila de Lima and Risa Hontiveros, former Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino, as well as several lawyers, priests, and bishops.

Advincula was named as both respondent and witness in the filing. — DVM, GMA News
