Dengue in Metro Manila exceeds alert level threshold

Metro Manila may face a dengue epidemic as the number of cases has surpassed the alert level threshold.

According to a report on GMA News TV's Balitanghali, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 11,123 dengue cases in Metro Manila as of August 10.

The DOH said 856 of these cases were recorded in a single a week, most of them among children aged 5 to 9.

Out of all the barangays in the National Capital Region, the highest number of cases was recorded in Greater Fairview, Quezon City.

The DOH said 160 dengue cases were recorded at the barangay as of August 3 this year, with one dying.

The news team even saw a swarm of mosquitos in the area near a daycare center.

However, the Fairview Health Center said they were taking necessary steps to prevent the number from rising. — MDM, GMA News
