More than 100,000 applicants recorded in first week of voter registration—Comelec


Over 100,000 applications for voter registration have been processed across the country since the start of the process on January 20, the Commission on Elections announced on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Comelec said at least 105,676 applications were recorded within the week from January 20 to 25.

These includes application for registration, transfer of registration records, change/correction of entries in the record, reactivation of registration record, and reinstatement of name in the list of voters.

According to the Comelec, the National Capital Region processed the highest number of applications at 19,438, followed by regions CALABARZON and Central Luzon at 18,993 and 10,202, respectively.

At least 58,388 female and 47,288 male applicants were accommodated.

For transfer of registration record from overseas to local, the Comelec received at least 841 applications.

“The voter registration period, pursuant to COMELEC Resolution No. 10635, will run until September 30, 2021,” the commission said.

“Applications will be accepted from Mondays to Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., including holidays,” it added. —NB, GMA News
