DND urges delay in PMA Homecoming as Baguio placed in nCoV lockdown

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Tuesday suggested that the Philippine Military Academy Homecoming, scheduled for February 14 and 15, be moved to a later date due to Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong's decision to impose "a mandatory a city-wide lockdown for tourists and visitors."

"Unless the City Mayor reverses his decision before February 14, then I suggest that the PMA Homecoming be moved to a more auspicious date in the future," said Lorenzana in a statement.

The Department of National Defense also supported the PMA's decision to temporarily close its grounds to visitors and outsiders in light of the 2019-nCov situation.

"We deem it prudent to avoid situations where the health and safety of our cadets, PMA alumni, and their families are put at risk," concluded Lorenzana. — DVM, GMA News
