No proof malunggay can combat nCoV, says ex-DOH chief

While malunggay has been branded as “superfood,” thanks to the numerous nutrients that it packs, a former Department of Health secretary reminded the public that there is no scientific proof that it can combat the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Iloilo Representative Janette Garin said there is no scientific basis for claims that the malunggay is effective against viral infectious diseases such as the 2019-nCoV.

“Karamihan sa mga viral infection e walang gamot. Merong iba, it can control, pero kung meron man, masyadong mahal. Supplements, by science, are not scientifically proven to cure viral infections,” she said.
