Gatchalian to end self-quarantine if found negative for COVID-19

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Sunday reported that he already had himself tested for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and that he can already put an end to his self-quarantine if he tested negative for the virus.

In a Dobol B sa News TV interview aired on GMA News TV, Gatchalian said he came in contact with the Senate resource person who later tested positive for COVID-19 last March 5, and it has been 10 days since that encounter.

"Tatapusin ko lang ito (self-quarantine) hanggang March 19. Pero nagpa-test na rin tayo last Friday," he said.

"Kung malalamang negatibo yung ating resulta, pwede na nating ihinto itong self-quarantine natin," he added.

Gatchalian reported that he was not sick and was not experiencing any flu-like symptoms, although he underwent self-quarantine for 14 days following the government's directive to those who might have been exposed to confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Apart from him, at least seven other senators underwent self-quarantine, including Senators Nancy Binay, Sonny Angara, Bong Go, Panfilo Lacson, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Imee Marcos, and Bong Revilla.

The Senate will not be holding any hearing until April 12 in accordance to the Metro Manila community quarantine directive.

—Erwin Colcol/LBG, GMA News
