AMID COVID-19 THREAT

Tugade to allow adjustment in LTO, LTFRB license renewal period -Sotto

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade will allow necessary adjustments for the renewal of licenses with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in light of the health situation in the country, Senate President Vicente Sotto III said Wednesday.

"Just talked to DOTR Sec Tugade, he will issue extension of renewal of licenses for LTO and LTFRB 'til end of April. Thank you Sec Art!" Sotto said in a Twitter post.

The move was done to alleviate the inconveniences of the public amid the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon to combat the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Under this setup, citizens are encouraged to stay at home and avoid unnecessary travels to prevent the spread of the virus.

The DOTr has yet to release official guidelines for those who are scheduled to renew their licenses while the community quarantine is in effect.

Earlier in the day, Sotto urged Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III to extend the deadline for the filing of income tax returns. --KBK, GMA News
