China said on Wednesday that it was donating 100,000 tests kits and other medical supplies to help the Philippines in its fight against the new coronavirus, which has infected 202 and killed 17 across the country.
"The assistance includes 100,000 test kits, 100,000 surgical masks, 10,000 N95 masks, and 10,000 sets of personal protective equipment," China said in a statement issued through its embassy in Manila.
Chinese officials are coordinating with the Department of Health to ensure that the medical supplies will be turned over immediately, it added.
"The Chinese people stands ready to help their Philippine brothers and sisters to go through this difficult time," the embassy statement said.
President Rodrigo Duterte has placed the Philippines under state of calamity amid the rapid increase of virus cases.
As the government seeks to stem the spread of the deadly Covid-19, which was first detected in China in December 2019, Luzon was put under enhanced community quarantine until April 13. -NB, GMA News
